University Behavioral Center of Orlando, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Clinical Services is responsible for supporting the overall clinical and administrative operations of the Behavioral Health Department in an acute hospital setting. This role combines clinical, supervisory, quality, and program development responsibilities, including carrying a clinical caseload, facilitating group therapy, ensuring documentation compliance, and serving as a liaison for transitional care through step-down navigation. The Assistant Director collaborates with the Director of Clinical Services, interdisciplinary treatment teams, and community providers to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care and seamless transitions across levels of care.

Qualifications

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current Florida license in specialty required, LCSW preferred.
  • Must be in good standing with licensing board and maintain licensure as a condition of employment.
  • Current CPR and Handle with Care certifications, offered onsite.

Education,training and experience:

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.
  • Minimum of three (3) years mental health experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate in a clear, concise manner with referral sources, hospital staff and the public, as well as provide accurate and timely documentation and record keeping.
  • Good organizational and time management skills to cope with a fast-paced environment and frequent interruptions, complex schedules and fluctuations in census is required.
  • Knowledge of the physical, emotional, and cultural characteristics of patients who have psychiatric, chemical dependency, and behavioral problems.
  • Ability to continually identify and assess the emotional needs of the patient, and to measure the patient's progress.
    Knowledge of community resources.
