The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education, and exhibition.
The Human Resources (HR) department is seeking a full-time Human Resources Assistant to provide administrative and operational support to the HR team. This role helps to ensure smooth HR processes, accurate recordkeeping and a positive employee experience.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain and update employee records, files and the HR system. This could include performing data entry, communicating with colleagues about changes, physically maintaining and updating files, creating files and processing changes and updates.
- Greet visitors to the HR office, responding to general inquiries and connecting employees with other members of the team as appropriate.
- Drop off, pick up and distribute departmental mail.
- Maintain and coordinate supply ordering.
- Prepare employment verification letters and respond to external verification requests.
- Assist with various recurring and one-time HR initiatives and projects, including programs related to employee engagement , health and wellness and learning and development.
- Support the employee offboarding process.
The expected salary range for the Human Resources Assistant is $48,000/annual - $52,000/annual. This position is overtime-eligible and the

Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience. |
| Minimum Qualifications |
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Professional experience with a strong interest in Human Resources.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent customer service skills and written/oral communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

- Ability to balance multiple tasks, priorities and timelines.

| Physical Demands |
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to move about the Museum campus.
