DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
In this role, you will train to operate highway equipment and perform a variety of maintenance tasks that support safe and reliable roadways. You will learn proper safety practices, equipment operation, and environmental responsibilities while working alongside experienced crew members.
- Learn Equipment Operation: Train to operate heavy trucks, loaders, and other machinery, and complete required pre- and post-operation checks.
- Use Hand and Power Tools: Practice using shovels, rakes, chainsaws, jackhammers, mowers, and other tools to complete roadway and bridge maintenance tasks.
- Perform Manual Labor: Help clean culverts, cut brush and grass, repair guiderails, dig ditches, and support other maintenance activities.
- Follow Safety Procedures: Use protective gear, stay aware of hazards, report injuries or accidents immediately, and help maintain a safe work zone.
- Make Basic Adjustments: Learn to make simple field adjustments and minor equipment care to support safe and efficient operation.
- Support Environmental Practices: Follow environmental protection requirements and complete training related to environmental management.

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work hours are subject to change based on seasonal and operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
- This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
