Responsibilities & Expectations:

The Supply Chain Leader is responsible for developing and executing a centralized supply chain strategy across a multi-regional electromechanical repair network specializing in motors, generators, and transformers where synergies exist. This role provides corporate-level leadership to regional supply chain managers and local buyers, driving standardization, cost optimization, supplier partnerships, material availability, and working capital performance.

The position ensures alignment between corporate strategy and regional execution while balancing local responsiveness with enterprise-wide leverage. It will also require high level of collaboration between shop operations, engineering for value engineering and new product launch, quality for supplier qualification and approved supplier list, and finance driving year over year cost reductions of 3%.

This role should also make vs buy decisions based on internal capabilities and investment.

Enterprise Supply Chain Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a multi-year supply chain roadmap aligned with company growth and operational strategy.
  • Standardize procurement, planning, and inventory management practices across regions.
  • Lead centralization initiatives (strategic sourcing, category management, national contracts, part numbering).
  • Establish supplier risk mitigation and continuity planning frameworks.
  • Assessment of company internal manufacturing against other internal sites and external opportunities.
  • Framework and governance model to ensure all are compliant with systems and approvals.

Regional Leadership & Governance:

  • Lead and mentor Regional Supply Chain Managers across multiple repair facilities.
  • Create accountability through KPIs and performance dashboards.
  • Drive cross-regional collaboration and best practice sharing.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with regional teams.

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:

  • Develop preferred supplier networks for:
    1. Copper wire, magnet wire, insulation systems (VPI, B-stage, etc.)
    2. Core steel and laminations
    3. Bearings, mechanical components
    4. Transformer components (cores, bushings, oil, radiators)
    5. Subcontracted machining and fabrication
  • Negotiate enterprise-level agreements to reduce cost and improve service levels.
  • Implement supplier scorecards and performance reviews.
  • Deploy engineering and quality teams for supplier qualification and should cost analysis of product.

Inventory & Working Capital Optimization:

  • Drive improvements in:
    1. Inventory turns
    2. Obsolescence reduction
    3. Excess and slow-moving inventory management
    4. Safety stock optimization for customers and spare parts assessment to support operations.
  • Align forecasting processes and supplier agreements/pricings with operations and sales pipelines.
  • Implement standardized ERP/MRP planning practices across regions.

Operational Support for Repair Environment:

  • Ensure material availability for fast-turn repairs and emergency outage support.
  • Support large field service projects with coordinated material logistics.
  • Develop rapid-response sourcing models for outage and shutdown work.
  • Balance job-specific procurement with stocked program materials.

Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Lead ERP supply chain module optimization.
  • Drive data accuracy (BOMs, item masters, vendor files).
  • Implement digital procurement tools and supplier portals.
  • Standardize purchasing approval workflows.

Financial Performance & Reporting:

  • Own corporate supply chain budget.
  • Deliver year-over-year cost savings targets.
  • Monitor PPV (purchase price variance).
  • Provide executive-level reporting on:
    1. Cost reduction initiatives
    2. Supplier performance
    3. Risk exposure
    4. Working capital performance

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience
  • Multi-site or regional leadership experience
  • Experience in industrial services, manufacturing, or electromechanical repair preferred
  • Strong ERP/MRP system experience
  • Proven track record of cost reduction and supplier consolidation

Preferred Industry Experience:

  • Motor rewind and repair operations
  • Generator field service projects
  • Transformer remanufacturing or rehabilitation
  • Industrial services or rotating equipment environments
  • Project-based and outage-driven supply chains

Work Environment:

  • 25-40% travel to regional facilities
  • Collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and Sales
  • Fast-paced environment requiring responsiveness to emergency repair demands
