The Health, Behavior and Society department at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health is seeking a
Clinical Research Assistant II to be responsible for collection and management of study participant data for The Long-Life Family Study.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins University conduct clinical trials and clinical studies to discover new ways to prevent and treat diseases and other health problems. The Clinical Research Assistant II will support the research team by implementing steps and processes of a clinical research protocol. The position will perform both administrative tasks related to day-to-day clinical research operations, and protocol-related duties requiring an understanding of research procedures. Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Collect study data by recruiting and coordinating activities of study participants.
- Utilize a basic understanding of the clinical study background and rationale to explain. the study to potential and current participants.
- Assist in developing recruitment strategy for one or more studies.
- Implement a variety of techniques for recruitment, e.g., print and web based. advertisements, contact referring physicians, participate in community events, etc.
- Set up tools and procedures for data collection and study processes.
- Perform data entry and organize data in approved systems.
- Serve as liaison between study team and IRB for routine administrative matters.
- Prepare routine reports related to study accrual, study trends, efficiency-related issues.
- Contact participants to confirm, schedule, and retain.
- Other duties as assigned.
In addition to the duties above
- Recruits study participants using approved methodologies, such as mailings, surveillance of the internet for finding potential participants, approved advertisements, etc and screens for study eligibility.
- Schedules home visits and blood draws, conducts reminder phone calls and manages mailings.
- Conducts the enrollment of study participants, including explaining research procedures and obtaining informed consent of participants.
- Performs data entry.
- Assists investigators with manuscript and presentation preparation and research.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
- One year of related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Access to reliable transportation for home visits.
- Prior phlebotomy experience.
