LOCATION: Corporate - any COE

SUMMARY: A Technical Specification Management Engineer develops, reviews and maintains detailed technical documentation, standards, and requirements for products or systems to ensure quality, compliance, and functionality. This position will bridge the gap between design, engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams by managing the technical specification lifecycle, including version control, revisions and stakeholder feedback.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead and Optimize the Specification Process and Systems
  • Approval of Product Specification changes
  • Raw Material Information is Available and Acceptable
  • Regulatory and Customer Expectations are Being Met
  • Process Capabilities is reviewed and Decisions are made with Manufacturing
  • Lead Raw Material Qualification Projects for Commercial Specifications (Continuous Improvement)
  • Lead a team ensuring Item Builds and Technical Data are accurate and the team is responsive to the business
  • Develop and Integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into APC's development and specifications process in conjunction with IT and other stakeholders
  • Own the Change management (DC Process) for all other product specification updates when required
  • Analyze and Maintain Accuracy of Specifications and Data related to our Technical Products, including integration of data to Radius (ERP System) and other platforms
  • Obsolete old raw materials and remove them from product specs
  • Ensure Radius is aligned with specifications
  • Finishing Spec Analysis looking for oddities in roll sizes per customer/ship to location by specification
  • Resolve all Product Specs that had prelams vs finished structure info as different versions - Change Mgmt through Radius
  • Capture accurate market, equipment, and regulatory data into existing specs
  • Remove spec duplicates (raw materials and also product specs)
  • Harmonize the specifications across all Centers of Excellence
  • Improve the Specification Creation Process
  • Standard test lists
  • Standard MFG instructions
  • Procedure to analyze existing data when creating new specs
  • Establish specification process expectations for Pouches and Perf/Laser (storage, naming, etc)
  • Create and Manage a customer spec documentation process so expectations can be reviewed and documented for future considerations
  • Analyze "issues" that occur and put corrective measures in place with other department stakeholders
  • Work with Regulatory to ensure all compliance is validated and gaps are closed - Identify when specifications with new requirements prompt the need for further migration testing
  • Implement and optimize ticket system or other request system for spec team requests
  • Other Duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in a Technical Field (Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, etc.) from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate for this position will have a broad knowledge of packaging, materials, equipment in the flexible packaging space, awareness of the sustainable space including standards and guidelines, and passion for educating, promoting, and growing sustainable packaging within APC and our customer base.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information predominantly technical in nature and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Skillful in presentation skills both in preparation and delivery is preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
