| Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Specialist for The Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation. The Research Specialist will report to Dr. Daniel Barone. The Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation is conducting research and projects that deal with best practices and novel approaches to resiliency of transportation networks around the world. Areas of investigation include the assessment of resiliency techniques and comparing them to existing design standards to determine areas of needed improvement, identification of novel resilient alternative design approaches of transportation networks and the development of standardized guidance for resiliency metrics to aid in design of design approaches of transportation networks.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Works independently with clearly defined research objectives associated with projects such as development and assessment of project specific resilient design criteria.
- Provides the support and management skills necessary to accomplish the goals of the programs.
- Demonstrates a leadership role in forming and maintaining productive working relationships, and the ability to work autonomously in the prescribed duties, as well cooperatively with CAIT's faculty and staff in general.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Master's degree in a scientific field or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding in infrastructure resilience related marine, highway, and rail transportation systems.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Three years of experience in transportation planning, resilient design principles, asset management and demonstrate a sound understanding of applications and a greater depth of knowledge in the discipline of infrastructure resilience.
- Previous interactions with transportation agencies such as NJDOT, FHWA; active participation in transportation materials related professional organizations.
- Previous interactions with transportation agencies.
- Experienced in organizing and supervising research studies and staff.
- Experience with ArcGIS, Matlab, Autodesk and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge in maritime transportation and flood hazards.
