Summary

The UAS Research Engineer I will have the opportunity to work on a variety of UAS prototypes and production platforms for military and commercial applications. The Research Engineer I will be responsible for assisting or running projects and programs with the design, simulation, development, construction, integration, component testing and maintenance of UAS platforms. The Research Engineer I will have 0-2 years of experience in the design, fabrication, and operation of UAS systems.

Responsibilities



  • Work independently to determine methods and procedures for projects
  • Collaborate with an engineering team to ensure UAS designs meet customer requirements
  • Participate in design and develop of UAS platforms, subsystems, and components
  • Follow and execute test plans for lab, ground, and flight environments
  • Conduct modeling, analysis, and simulation of UAS design performance
  • Stay current with industry developments and emerging technology relevant to UAS systems
  • Assist in development of documentation for integration guides, standard operating procedures, and technical specifications of UAS

Qualifications

Required Skills



  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • 0-1 years of CAD Experience (e.g., Solidworks)
  • MathCAD or MATLAB Experience
  • Knowledge of common engineering concepts and procedures
  • Ability to assist interpreting and analyzing flight test results for iterative design improvements
  • Demonstration of engineering problem solving


Preferred Skills



  • UAS Integration Experience
  • Prototyping Experience
  • Understanding of implications of transitioning design to real world assembly
  • Autopilot Configuration Experience
  • Knowledge of aviation regulation and standards concerning UAS


Required Qualifications



  • Complete or nearly complete B.S. in relevant Engineering Field
  • Must be able to obtain and retain secret security clearance


Preferred Qualifications



  • Part 107 License
  • Professional relevant experience



Physical Demands/Travel



  • Required use of machining tools
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing/lab environment
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods (hot and cold)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lb
  • Support short notice travel within Oklahoma for flight testing/operations
  • Support CONUS travel for flight demo/operations
  • Potential for OCONUS travel
