What this position entails

The Manager, Product Research, will lead a small team of analysts to prioritize, research, and implement enhancements to our Irix product suite. The team will partner closely with stakeholders across the practice, as well as external partners such as clients, data providers, and reinsurers. This team will develop rigorous studies, translate findings into product improvements, and communicate outcomes clearly to diverse audiences.

What you will be doing



  • Own the Irix Product Research backlog: collect market feedback, scope research opportunities, facilitate prioritization discussions, and drive results through
  • Serve as a player-coach: perform hands-on analysis, delegate and prioritize objectives, and mentor, motivate and develop analysts
  • Set standards for documentation, quality, transparency, and peer-review
  • Translate research outcomes into clear requirements in partnership with product/software development and other technical teams
  • Develop value analysis strategies to drive adoption for new and existing products
  • Work with external and internal clients to create high quality deliverables that effectively meet their goals and showcase the value of our products
  • Generate thought leadership materials such as webinars, conference presentations and white papers, in partnership with other departments, to highlight subject matter expertise, product capabilities, and groundbreaking research
  • Define success metrics for R&D initiatives and guide post-release performance monitoring
  • Showcase research findings to key stakeholders and leadership for awareness, understanding, and decision-making


What we need



  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or other major with quantitative course work
  • 4+ years of experience in product R&D, analytics, actuarial science, or data science
  • Expertise with prescription and medical claims data
  • Solid understanding of underwriting principles and drivers of mortality/morbidity risk
  • Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional initiatives
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to think big picture
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerBI, and database querying languages (preferably SQL)
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Databricks, R, and Python

Location

The expected application deadline for this job is May 1, 2026. This position is open to remote work. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI as needed and travel nationwide for meetings, conferences, and team events.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $93,700 - $177,675. For candidates residing in:



  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $107,755 - $177,675
  • All other locations the salary range $93,700 - $154,500


A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
