Position summary: Responsible for leading JMT's high-dollar, complex projects to ensure a high-quality delivery through quality, schedule, and budget. The ideal candidate will begin the project life cycle by identifying leads and marketing efforts on targeted areas of growth. The individual serves in a leadership role providing guidance and mentorship as well as ensuring project(s) continue to align with JMT's organizational goals. Essential functions and responsibilities: Project Management
- Manage project(s) in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collaborate with disciplines and subconsultants to develop a risk averse project scope and fee.
- Develop project-specific project plans, including Project Management Plans/Quality Management Plans.
- Manage subconsultants.
- Monitor and execute project progress, including identifying and mitigating risks, developing extra work order requests, and open-end contract task proposals.
- Develop and lead project status presentations.
- Coordinate and guide all technical resources within the project team to ensure the delivery of a high-quality outcome.
- Leverage advanced knowledge and experience with the client and project type to analyze the project, anticipate potential risks (such as overruns and scope changes), and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Implement strategies for project tracking and reporting by using project performance metrics to foresee and mitigate issues.
Marketing and Business Development
- Build relationships with client(s) to understand preferences and requirements to set-up and execute a quality project.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of clients and other industry stakeholders.
- Identify leads with targeted clients for development and execution into contract opportunities.
- Assist Section Heads, Office Leaders, and Practice Leaders with the marketing process, including SMART Go/No-Go decisions, proposal development, interviews, and developing a win strategy.
- Collaborate with Section Head and Office Leader on identifying leads and opportunities based on strategic goals.
- Assist Section Head and Office Leader with developing strategic goals based on client's program information, etc.
Financial Performance
- Participate in office's project financial status meetings.
- Prepare progress reports and review invoices.
People Leadership
- Provide coaching and mentorship to the project team through one-on-one check-ins and various project debriefs to acknowledge achievements, identify areas for improvement, and share lessons learned.
- Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meetings, coaching) that supports the growth and development of the team.

Required Skills

Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program
- 12+ years of experience in Water/Wastewater project design and management
- Professional Engineering License in TX
Qualifications Preferred:
- CAPM or PMP
- Experience working with local clients at the county and state level including SAWS, SARA, City of San Antonio, and surrounding municipalities
- Project management and business development experience
- Experience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3
- Experience managing multidiscipline project teams
- Understanding of permitting requirements as it relates to construction documents, including experience with TCEQ and Edward Aquifer protection rules
Working Conditions: Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
