The Analytics Analyst II supports data-informed decision-making by developing and maintaining data models, reports, and analytics solutions aligned with institutional goals. The role collaborates with stakeholders to identify data needs, manages and analyzes datasets, and develops dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights. Responsibilities include building and maintaining data pipelines and warehousing solutions, ensuring data quality and integrity, and improving reporting processes and analytics capabilities across the university.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Partners with stakeholders to determine data requirements and outcomes based on strategic objectives.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains data models for reporting and analyzing complex statistical data to support data driven decision making.
  • Develops standardized templates, policies, and procedures for reporting.
  • Collects, manages, and cleans datasets. Identifies and resolves issues with reports or datasets.
  • Analyzes data quantitatively and qualitatively, identifies root causes of issues, communicates findings, and collaborates on data quality improvements.
  • Develops, documents, and maintains processes, procedures, and data collection instruments that support institutional data quality and integrity.
  • Creates, maintains, and updates complex reports, accreditation documentation, and assessment materials using data analysis best practices.
  • Utilizes specified statistical software to analyze and interpret data.
  • Reviews progress, evaluates results, recommends new processes, and promotes best practices for analytics.
  • Utilizes MSSQL for data management, transformation, and querying.
  • Designs and builds visual analytics using Tableau and Power BI.
  • Utilizes integration platforms such as Boomi to design, develop, and maintain data pipeline processes.
  • Designs, builds, and maintains modern data pipelines using Docker and Python for automated ingestion, transformation, and delivery of data.
  • Maintains data warehousing solutions, including DataVault 2.0, to ensure efficient, scalable data storage and retrieval.
  • Develops new techniques and procedures that enhance the university's analytics and reporting processes.

Other Duties:

  • Collaborates with other institutional departments to create and enforce data standards, definitions, coding and reporting practices
  • Develops new techniques and procedures to enhance university analytics process.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires either nine years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Experience in developing Business Intelligence or analytic systems.
  • Experience with containerized development environments using Docker for automation and data pipeline orchestration.
  • Experience with cloud data warehousing platforms such as Snowflake, including loading, modeling, performance optimization, and security best practices.
  • Experience with administration, architectural design, development, and support of reporting and analytics systems such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI tools.
  • Experience using SQL and Python to perform data analysis, transformation, and development of data pipelines.
  • Experience working with integration and data pipeline technologies, including Boomi, Python scripts, REST APIs, and containerized services.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Banner, Workday, or other Student Information System reporting and database development.
  • Experience in SQL and Python for data transformation, automation, and analytical workflows.
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines using Docker, Python, APIs, or integration platforms such as Boomi.
  • Experience with cloud data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, including data loading, modeling, and performance tuning.
  • Experience in systems analysis, process design, and solution development in a complex organizational environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations relevant to the position.
  • Knowledge of database architecture, relational modeling, and modern data design principles.
  • Knowledge of data visualization principles and tools, including Tableau and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of integration platforms such as Boomi and Python-based pipelines for automating data ingestion and transformation.
  • Knowledge of modern database architecture, data modeling, and cloud based analytical design patterns.
  • Knowledge of containerized development and deployment using Docker.
  • Knowledge of cloud data warehousing concepts and methodologies, including Snowflake and DataVault 2.0.
  • Skill in organizing resources, managing priorities, and coordinating complex tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skill in using logic, analytical reasoning, and critical evaluation to compare alternative solutions.
  • Skill in designing and implementing interactive visual data representations using Tableau and Power BI.
  • Skill in mapping, analyzing, and re-engineering business processes in a complex organizational environment.
  • Skill in designing, developing, and maintaining automated data pipelines using Boomi, Python scripts, APIs, and Docker-based services.
  • Skill in compiling, organizing, interpreting, and communicating complex datasets in clear and concise formats.
  • Skill in administering Tableau, including managing permissions, data sources, and server configurations.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, uphold high standards of integrity, and apply best practices to improve organizational processes.
  • Ability to take initiative, plan, organize, and perform work effectively under conditions of multiple and competing demands.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written formats to both small and large audiences.
  • Ability to work with relational database management systems and SQL based solutions.
