Job Summary

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting large, multi-discipline engineering projects that impact substation, system, and transmission operations. This role combines technical review, project coordination, and field support to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with engineering, regulatory, and quality standards. The Project Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders while providing technical oversight and supporting field activities in utility and construction environments. This is a hybrid role requiring regular in-office presence.

Job Responsibilities




  • Support planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects related to substation, system, and transmission operations.



  • Review engineering estimates, schedules, drawings, and technical specifications.



  • Coordinate engineering package reviews and track project deliverables.



  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers to ensure project alignment and progress.



  • Provide technical support during field construction and engineering activities.



  • Participate in field visits, pre-award meetings, and project reviews.



  • Assist in troubleshooting system issues and supporting equipment outages or emergency responses.



  • Maintain accurate project data within engineering systems and tools.



  • Prepare progress reports, financial updates, and project documentation.



  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and quality standards.




Job Requirements




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, or Master's degree in Engineering with relevant experience.



  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering or design experience in utility operations, construction, substations, steam, or power generation, or 3 years with a Master's degree.



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.



  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels.



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.



  • Valid driver's license.



  • Ability and willingness to perform field visits and work in substation environments, including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).




Work Experience




  • Experience supporting large-scale engineering or infrastructure projects preferred.



  • Experience in utility, construction, or power generation environments preferred.



  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external vendors preferred.
