About the Role

The Information Security Engineer designs, implements, and maintains security controls that protect First Western's systems, networks, and cloud environments. This role manages identity and access provisioning, supports secure network architecture design, and enhances monitoring and defensive capabilities across the enterprise. You will collaborate with Risk, Technology, and business partners to ensure controls are properly integrated into operations and aligned with regulatory expectations. This position plays a key role in strengthening the bank's overall cyber resilience and supporting secure growth.

What You'll Do



  • Administer identity and access controls by managing user, administrator, and service accounts through established credential, authorization, and governance processes.
  • Execute access provisioning and deprovisioning workflows to ensure privileges are granted, modified, and revoked securely and in accordance with policy and industry best practices.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure by configuring, updating, and tracking network devices to ensure security, reliability, and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Design, implement, and support secure network architectures, including segmentation, least-privilege design, and highavailability controls.
  • Develop, maintain, and routinely update network architecture diagrams and related technical documentation to ensure accuracy and support operational planning.
  • Operate and enhance security monitoring and defensive tools to detect, analyze, and mitigate threats across the enterprise environment.
  • Implement and support secure cloud architectures by configuring, monitoring, and maintaining cloud security controls and integrations to protect applications, workloads, and data.



What You Bring



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in network administration or similar technical roles.
  • Strong understanding of IAM principles (least privilege, SoD, lifecycle management, PAM).
  • Handson experience with RBAC, SSO, MFA, and identity federation.
  • Expertise in network security: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing/switching, VLANs, segmentation.
  • Experience with secure architecture models including DMZ, HA/DR, NGFW, VPN, NAC.
  • Proficiency with cybersecurity monitoring, SIEM, detection engineering, and tuning defensive tools.
  • Strong cloud security knowledge including IAM roles, security groups, logging/monitoring, and posture management.
  • Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
