Job Overview:
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that all purchased materials, components, and services meet the organization's quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role serves as the primary technical contact for supplier quality performance, driving continuous improvement, supporting new product introductions, and mitigating risks within the supply chain. The SQE works cross functionally with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and external suppliers to resolve quality issues, enhance supplier capabilities, and maintain consistent incoming material quality.
Responsibilities:
- Drive process improvements to enhance quality, safety, and supply chain productivity.
- Review/approve PPAPs, FAI reports, validations, and process control plans; ensure compliance with industry and internal standards.
- Evaluate and disposition nonconforming materials across inbound, processing, and outbound supplier stages.
- Monitor supplier performance against KPIs and deliver regular updates to leadership.
- Lead corrective actions (SCAR, 8D, PDCA), perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
- Develop inspection standards, sampling plans, specs, and quality documentation; analyze data and customer returns to prevent recurrence.
- Support manufacturing, suppliers, and customers by troubleshooting issues, providing guidance, and assisting service teams.
- Train teams, guide quality technicians, direct testing/inspection activities, ensure ISO and safety compliance, and handle additional responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
- 3+ years of experience in quality within a manufacturing environment.
- 1+ years of experience with GD&T
- 1+ years of experience with PFMEA
- 1+ years of experience with PPAP
- 1+ years of experience with 8D Reporting and/or root cause analysis
- 1+ years of experience with continuous improvement
- 1+ years of experience reading blueprints
- 1+ years of experience with metrology using related tooling (Calipers, Micrometers, etc.)
