Ever-Green Energy is looking for a team member to provide field supervision for pipeline projects, primarily cathodic protection system installations and testing, pipeline leak detection testing for new construction and pipeline repair projects. This oversight will ensure that all customers receive a reliable supply of thermal energy. Minimum requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Postsecondary course work or equivalent experience in math, written communications, piping systems and other areas related to utility construction.
  • 3 years of education and/or work experience in the energy industry and/or pipeline construction
  • Possess Cathodic Protection Tester Certification (CP1) or have the ability to attain a CP1 Certification within one year of employment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, municipal authorities, and customers relative to contracts and utility service requirements.
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings and contract specifications, and the ability to prepare reports, analysis, and read technical drawing and record documents.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing job situations, the ability to work diplomatically with people inside and outside the company.
  • Strong supervisory skills, effective oral and written communications.
  • Computer word processing and spreadsheet operational skills are essential, including Microsoft Office. The ability to prepare and manage reports and records. Must have an understanding on how to store and retrieve project documents in the project file.
  • The ability to climb into and out of vaults and perform lifting of equipment is a position requirement.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clear driving record.

Preferred requirements:

  • Underground utilities experience working with contractors, vendors and customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical supervision for pipeline system repairs and upgrades.

  1. Assist with contract document preparation for bid and time/material projects. Review all project designs to ensure that Distribution standards are met for long term system performance. Perform material take-off for project work.
  2. Provide field supervision to ensure contractor compliance with design drawings, specifications, distribution standards of quality, and schedule. Ensure project record documentation is secured including submittals, as-built record drawings, safety program documentation, contract project documentation, testing results, etc.
  3. Create as-built record drawings and other contract required records for completed projects. Electronically store these documents in the project file.

2. Provide technical support and supervision of the Cathodic Protection Systems

  1. Chilled Water Pipeline - Cathodic Projection System: Conduct testing to ensure that there are periodic checks of the chilled water pipeline, evaluating readings to ensure pipe is appropriately cathodically protected. Implement the action plan for correcting zones that indicate insufficient protection. Supervise the construction activities to complete the upgrades to the cathodic protection system.
  2. Provide records management for system upgrades, assist with budget recommendations, participate in the advancement of cathodic system technologies.
  3. Schedule contractors to ensure maintenance work is completed in accordance with standard specification requirements.

3. Assist with technical support of the Pipeline Monitoring System - Leak Detection and Locating.

  1. Hot Water Pipeline - Moisture Detection System: Monitor all zones through the Pipe Guard system to ensure pipeline fault locations are detected when still minimal. Utilize the Stateview Analysis Equipment to determine specific locations for pipeline leaks. Assist with the preparation of project documents and project requirements to restore and repair damaged or corroded piping to normal.
  2. Conduct leak detection testing as directed by the Project Manager. Analyze the data and provide a report and recommendations of the findings to the Project Manager. Assist with the action plan for correcting the pipeline failure. Supervise the construction activities to complete the upgrades to the pipeline.
  3. Assist with records management for system upgrades, assist with budget recommendations, participate in the advancement of system technologies.

4. Assist Distribution Teams at other locations

  1. Assist other teams at energy systems that are operated by Ever-Green Energy
  2. Responsibilities include cathodic protection testing, leak monitor and locating, etc.
  3. Field supervision for pipeline projects.

5. Participate in the updating process to the District Energy Record Drawings.

  1. Cathodic components, such as anode bags, must be accurately recorded to ensure locate work is completed accurately.
  2. Accurately produce as-builts drawings for newly installed pipeline system infrastructure.

6. Assist with Distribution Department programs including the Safety Program, On-Call Program, and assisting program managers with Preventative and Corrective Maintenance requirements, department shunt program, and other operational requirements.

7. Provide customer service as necessary to ensure that mechanical system interface equipment operates as designed. Assist customers, and/or customer's mechanical contractor in analyzing system problems.

This position involves working in a steam, hot water, and/or chilled water plant and/or its distribution system. While performing job duties, employees may occasionally encounter potential hazards, including fumes, airborne particles, high-pressure steam in piping or equipment, both hot and cold temperatures, and hazards associated with moving machinery. The work environment's noise level typically ranges from moderate to loud. Other potential hazards common to heating and cooling plants may include confined spaces, slippery surfaces, rotating equipment, chemical handling (e.g., water treatment chemicals), and burns. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and physical controls are in place as needed to mitigate these risks.

We are committed to providing salary ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on your experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity considerations.

The salary range for this position is: $71,300 to $80,190.

This range reflects the base salary for this position.
