Responsibilities & Expectations:

The Shop Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the breaker shop and parts technicians. This role oversees workflow prioritization, quality control, technician development, and safety compliance. The Shop Manager ensures efficient shop operations, timely completion of customer orders, and proper maintenance of electrical distribution equipment.

Operations Leadership

• Manage daily shop operations, prioritizing work orders to meet customer deadlines.
• Maintain facility and equipment in proper working order and ensure a clean, organized workspace.

Technical Oversight

• Inspect, test, and repair electrical equipment including low/medium voltage circuit breakers and transformers.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using factory manuals and adjust breakers to specifications.
• Administer quality inspections throughout rebuild stages and maintain accurate test reports.

Staff Management

• Mentor technicians and assign projects based on skills and deadlines.
• Conduct performance evaluations, manage coaching, and monitor productivity through ADP.
• Serve as hiring manager, coordinating recruitment, training, and development of technical staff.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce safety standards, PPE requirements, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee 6S initiatives and continuous improvement processes (CIPS).
• Ensure completion of required PATH training, JHAs, and daily UCE1/2MD reviews.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead Operations and Quality elements in CIPS projects.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.

Qualifications and Competencies:

• Electrical product and breaker experience preferred
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Effective leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills
• Supervisory experience with strong team-oriented communication
• Proficient in ERP systems (NetSuite)

• Minimum 2 years of electrical experience
• Previous management experience preferred
• Pearl certifications preferred
• Forklift training
• OSHA 10-30 certification desired
