Journeyman Mechanical

Overview

To analyze, determine and complete Mechanical Services requirements pertaining to installation, operation, alteration, repairs, and maintenance of plumbing and HVAC systems. Responsibilities include regular routine maintenance, to complex problem solving. May be designated as a team lead by Supervisor to complete or respond to preventative maintenance efforts as well as emergency responses.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the necessary tools, supplies, equipment, and materials used for mechanical services maintenance or projects
• Assist Master technicians in performing mechanical preventative maintenance tasks related to the HVAC, Refrigeration
• Assist with installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of all water pipes, bathroom fixtures, water coolers, water heaters, building booster pumps and the hydronic water system
• Analyze, determines, and completes the mechanical services related task of installation, operation, alteration, repair, and maintenance of the Plumbing, Kitchen and HVAC systems
• Prepare systems or equipment parts and materials as needed
  Assist with and conduct minor repairs and replace faulty components within our HVAC and Plumbing System
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and current equipment conditions though our Facility Management System
• Complete service orders initiated by Navy Federal Credit Union employees at all levels assigned by the Supervisor and notifies customer when completed
• Ensure compliance of safety standards and protocols, including participation in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) which is mandatory
• May be designated as on call personnel to support after hours emergencies
• Use multiple computer-based applications such as Excel, Word and building management systems
• Pick up and delivers supplies as required
• Perform other related duties as required or appropriate, including to support other shops efforts to complete task or on campus emergencies

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Must possess valid driver's license
• Experience that demonstrates thorough knowledge, skill and successful performance of job functions at the journeyman level
• Successful completion of the Apprenticeship Program for HVAC mechanics, plumbers or formal training equivalent
• Thorough knowledge of local, state, and national mechanical and plumbing codes
• Knowledge of the tools, mathematics, codes, materials and safety regulations associated with the technician's trade
• Ability to read and interpret work schedules and directions, blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings and manufacturer manuals
• Ability to work independently and as a team member to gain the cooperation of others
• Thorough knowledge in the installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of both mechanical and computer driven systems and equipment associated with the operation and maintenance of commercial buildings
• Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal's functions, philosophy, operations and organizational objectives
• Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Journeyman's license for HVAC mechanics, Plumbers or the equivalent work experience under a licensed technician

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 6:00AM - 4:30PM (full time on-site, based on need can be on call, weekends, and OT)
