See Scale Here Application Window Open date: April 21, 2026 Next review date: Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position in the area of compound coastal flood modelling. This position requires a Ph.D. in civil engineering, environmental science, Earth science, or a related quantitative field. The preferred candidate should have experience in process modeling, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, satellite remote sensing, geospatial data analysis, and machine learning methods for environmental data integration and prediction. Experience with programming in Python, MATLAB, or similar scientific computing languages, working with large geospatial and climate datasets, and using statistical methods for model evaluation and uncertainty analysis is highly desirable. Familiarity with GIS, high-performance computing environments, and scientific visualization tools is also preferred. The candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrate a strong publication record. The successful candidate will join Dr. Phu Nguyen's research group to contribute to ongoing projects supported by federal and private funding sources.
