Job Summary:

The Materials Manager oversees yard operations while ensuring the highest HSE standards in scrap yard and finished goods areas. This role coordinates all logistics activities from raw material receipt to finished goods shipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.

This position is responsible for inventory control and optimization using APICS, in collaboration with Production and Scheduling to align inventory levels with production plans. The Materials Manager also drives Hot Metal Cost (HMC) optimization through effective charge planning.

This position reports to the Plant Manager.

What will make you successful?

Required Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, industrial setting
  • Strong understanding of safety, logistics, and inventory management principles
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP and/or APICS preferred)

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills in English and ability to collaborate cross-functionally



What you will be doing



  • Enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with HSE standards
  • Supervising and developing logistics and yard teams, including scheduling and training
  • Managing daily shipping, receiving, and transportation operations
  • Overseeing trailer fleet management (100+ units), including maintenance and compliance
  • Leading inventory management activities using APICS and supporting annual/monthly counts
  • Optimizing charge planning and improving Hot Metal Cost (HMC) performance
  • Collaborating with Production, HSE, Quality, HR, and other departments to ensure operational efficiency
  • Ensuring accurate shipping/receiving data entry and resolving system discrepancies
  • Supporting on-time customer delivery performance (COTD)
  • Travel required: less than 15%
