The USC Viterbi School of Engineering (http://viterbi.usc.edu) at the University of Southern California seeks outstanding research faculty candidates for full-time, non-tenure track, benefits-eligible research positions in the Alfred E. Mann Department of Biomedical Engineering (https://bme.usc.edu/).

All candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to research. Research faculty are not eligible for tenure and have no obligation to teach in the Department. Appointments may be considered for up to three years, subject to renewal upon satisfactory performance and available funding.

We are seeking highly qualified and motivated researchers with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline and a minimum of four years of postdoctoral research experience. The successful candidate will possess strong technical and analytical skills in either of the following areas:

  • Ultrasound and cellular and molecular bioengineering, with demonstrated ability to conduct innovative, independent research and contribute to collaborative projects. Areas of expertise should include sonogenetics, cellular and molecular engineering, genetically encoded reporter development, mechanobiology of cells within their microenvironment, and immunoengineering.

  • Ultrasound imaging and devices, with demonstrated ability to conduct innovative, independent research and contribute to collaborative projects. Areas of expertise should include contrast-free super-resolution microvessel imaging algorithm, ultrafast ultrasound imaging system design, and hardware acceleration for real-time ultrafast ultrasound processing.

Applicants should demonstrate the ability to lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams of graduate students, and a proven track record in grant proposal development and participation as Key or Senior Personnel on funded projects.

Applications must include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a concise statement of current and future research directions and funding, and names of at least three professional references. We would like to fill the position during the Summer of 2026 with a start date of July 1, 2026 or during the Spring of 2027 with a start date of January 1, 2027. The core salary range for the positions is $85,000 - $120,000 per year. These are 12-month full-time positions.
