Work Shift: 8hr-1st Shift (United States of America)
As a Process Technician, you will be responsible for providing maintenance and repairs to our production equipment - including pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems - in order to ensure that production downtime is kept to a minimum. All activities must be performed according to corporate and plant safety standards and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as issued by regulatory agencies.
- Set up, start up, and optimize Bekum and Uniloy extrusion blow molding machines
- Program and adjust parison profiles (100-point programming)to achieve proper wall distribution and bottle performance
- Perform and lead mold changes, including setup validation and first article approval
- Troubleshoot and correct:
- Wall thickness variation (especially corners/handles)
- Weight inconsistencies
- Flash and deflashing issues
- Cosmetic defects (burns, shorts, warp)
- Optimize machine parameters including:
- Temperature profiles
- Blow timing
- Cooling
- Extrusion output
- Work closely with QA and production to meet:
- Bottle weight targets
- Opacity/density requirements
- Top load and performance specs
- Support continuous improvement efforts around:
- First Pass Yield (FPY)
- Scrap reduction
- Cycle time optimization
- Train and mentor operators on basic process understanding and adjustments
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years experience in extrusion blow molding (HDPE preferred)
- Hands-on experience with:
- Bekum and/or Uniloy machines
- Parison programming and process tuning
- Strong understanding of:
- Wall distribution and bottle geometry
- Material behavior (HDPE)
- Cause-and-effect troubleshooting
- Ability to independently diagnose and correct process issues-not just escalate them
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-mix production environment
Bonus Experience
- Experience with:
- Multi-handle bottles / complex geometries
- Leak testing systems (Proco, etc.)
- Food-grade production environments
- Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Qualifications: Required:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Strong mechanical and electrical skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to recommend process improvements
- Commitment to safe work practices
- Solid English language and reading skills
Preferred:
- Basic computer and email skills; familiarity with Word and Excel, a plus
- PLC experience, a plus
- Current OSHA forklift certification, a plus
- Related experience in the food industry, a plus
- Mechanical experience on small engines, cars, or farm equipment, a plus
