Job Summary:
Responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant machinery, equipment, and related structures within a commercial aggregate and/or ready-mix/asphalt production environment. This role supports continuous plant operations by ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency, and assists with plant and quarry operations as needed.
Main Responsibilities:
* Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teams * Support, promote, and practice the Company's core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies * Ensure a safe work environment by following all safety policies and procedures, while using the appropriate tools, equipment, and PPE for the task * Follow all OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment, as applicable * Perform daily tasks and expectations for each project as advised by manager * Assist with maintaining organization and safe operation of yard or plant * Maintain plant to meet operating requirements and objectives * Visually inspect and test plant machinery and equipment * Perform maintenance mechanic assignments on equipment and facilities of plant * Collect data for preventative and predictive plant maintenance projects * Perform welding and cutting assignments, including fabrication for plant equipment and structures, and make repairs to worn processing equipment according to plant standards * Inspect lubrication of mechanical equipment, record data for running equipment, take lab samples as required, drain oil and change oil and filters on all equipment oil reservoirs * Operate mobile heavy industrial equipment and/or company vehicles used to complete maintenance and perform other tasks involved in plant maintenance and operation as required
Education:
* Technical or vocational certification in Industrial Maintenance, Diesel Technology, Welding, or a related field preferred * Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement required * Ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record in accordance with company and DOT standards * MSHA certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
Skills:
* Welding and fabrication experience in an industrial or similar environment required; equivalent combination of training and experience considered * 2+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience preferred * Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical equipment * Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance practices * Working knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment * Experience operating heavy industrial and/or construction equipment * Prior experience in pit/quarry operations, ready-mix or asphalt production facilities, or similar aggregate production environments * Ability to safely perform work in compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations
Physical Requirements:
* Wears and maintains required PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities as required. * Regularly uses hands to handle tools, equipment, and materials necessary for completing operational tasks safely and efficiently. * Regularly communicate (talk and hear) to support safe coordination, instruction, and teamwork in the work environment. * Regularly stands for extended periods and moves across various surfaces or terrain to access different work areas and complete assigned tasks. * Regularly works in changing environmental conditions (such as outdoor weather, dust, or airborne particles) due to the nature of operational work sites. * Regularly works near fuels, oils, and other common workplace chemicals associated with operating or supporting equipment and machinery. * Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds with or without assistance to handle materials, tools, equipment, or documents essential to the role. * Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches, and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls to access work areas and complete required tasks. * Frequently works in environments that may include loud noise, moving equipment, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor conditions depending on operational needs. * Occasionally works at heights or near electrical hazards when tasks require elevated access or proximity to electrical components. * Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime; overnight travel may be required.
