Purpose of the Role
Worley is seeking a highly capable Material Controller II to support the organization's mission of delivering sustainable change through precise, data-centric material management across complex energy, chemicals, and resources projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the seamless flow, control, and optimization of materials and equipment that enable successful project execution from engineering and construction through installation and commissioning. Aligned with Worley's purpose of delivering a more sustainable world, this position contributes to operational excellence by ensuring materials are accurately planned, tracked, stored, and distributed to maintain project continuity while minimizing waste, improving efficiency, and supporting sustainable transformation goals. The Material Controller II partners closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and site teams to provide reliable materials oversight that strengthens asset viability and supports customers across both traditional and sustainable energy sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Review engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation to accurately determine material requirements for project execution.
- Develop and maintain detailed material requirement records, including specifications, approved brands, supplier references, and procurement data to support efficient ordering and supply continuity.
- Monitor inventory levels, evaluate existing stock, and adjust procurement quantities to optimize resource utilization while reducing excess materials and unnecessary waste.
- Support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of site materials control systems to ensure accurate receipt, storage, tracking, and distribution of materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and logistics teams to align material availability with project schedules and operational priorities.
- Ensure materials management processes support Worley's integrated, data-centric project delivery model and commitment to sustainability-focused outcomes.
- Identify discrepancies, shortages, or process inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions that enhance operational performance and project reliability.
- Assist in troubleshooting systems, tools, and materials processes while providing technical guidance to project team members where needed.
- Contribute to safe, compliant, and efficient site operations by supporting established procedures, industry standards, and organizational best practices.
- Prepare and communicate material status reports, forecasts, and documentation to stakeholders to support informed decision-making and project transparency.
Qualifications / Skill Set
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in supply chain, materials management, engineering support, construction operations, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in materials control, inventory coordination, or supply chain support within engineering, energy, chemicals, resources, or large-scale industrial project environments.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comprehensive understanding of materials control systems, inventory processes, procurement coordination, and site logistics operations.
- Experience supporting projects through multiple lifecycle stages, including construction, installation, commissioning, or operational support.
- Proven capability to work with minimal supervision, manage changing priorities, and apply sound judgment to complex material planning challenges.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, improve processes, and recommend practical solutions aligned with operational and sustainability objectives.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to reports, proposals, and project updates.
- Proficiency in systems, tools, and digital platforms that support data-centric materials management and operational efficiency.
