THE POSITION

As a Park Maintenance Worker with the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, you will help keep the park clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone. This job gives you the chance to use tools, solve problems, and work in a beautiful natural setting. Your work will support outdoor recreation and help preserve important resources. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs semi-skilled maintenance and construction work to support the daily operations of Hickory Run State Park Complex. The role includes facility repairs, grounds upkeep, equipment care, and general park support. As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • Facility Repairs: Make repairs to buildings and structures using carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other trade tools
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain vehicles, mowers, tools, and other park equipment
  • Grounds Care: Mow grass, clear debris, cut firewood, clean grills, and prepare sites for landscaping
  • Construction Tasks: Mix and place cement, build simple forms, and lay stone or block as needed
  • Cleaning Duties: Clean restrooms, buildings, and public areas and complete basic housekeeping tasks
  • Visitor Assistance: Provide friendly help to park visitors and share information when needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026, until November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.
  • Work shifts/days vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hours per week to include weekends and holidays if needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
