Our Warehouse Operator is responsible for helping our warehouse department run smoothly and efficiently, safely operating all equipment, and loading packaged milled products on to trucks and railcars. Responsibilities and regular duties include:
- Inspecting trucks and railcars that are going to be loaded for leaks, holes, etc., that could endanger the load.
- Cleaning and preparing empty outbound trucks, containers, and railcars that packaged product will be loaded on.
- Updating and maintaining warehouse inventory records.
- Properly filling out pick sheets:
- Recording lot numbers.
- Adding bag weights for total pounds to be shipped.
- Recording seal numbers.
- Verifying lot numbers and weights.
- Inspection of fork lifts.
- Logging trucks in and out.
- Efficiently and safely loading trucks, railcars, and containers of finished milled product.
- Occasionaly load containers of 50 pound bags manually.
- Understanding and adhereing to all GMP, food quality, and food safety programs.
- Completion of sanitation tasks.
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a factory setting preferred but not required.
- 1 to 2 years of loading experience preferred.
- 1 to 2 years of forklift experience preferred.
- Previous slip sheet loading experience preferred but not required.
- Basic computer skills.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain alert throughout the workday.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to support business needs.
- Exhibit flexibilty and willingness to perform tasks as needed.
- Eager to learn and challenge yourself; self-directed, detail oriented, reliable, and strong initiative.
Physical Demands:
- Activities include walking, lifting, stacking, pulling, inserting, standing, probing, bending, reaching, accumulating, and collating motions.
- Shovelling up to 30 pounds quickly and reptitively.
- Occasionally lifting to shoulder level and dumping 55 pound bags.
- Occasionally lifting to chest level and stacking 75 pound pallets.
- Stacking 450 bags, weighing 50 pounds each, into a 20 foot container.
- Carefully restacking pallets of 50 pound bags.
- Climbing up to 70 feet on OSHA approved ladders and stairs.
- Working at heights up 70 feet protected by fall protection or railings.
- Working in loud areas with provided hearing PPE.
- Working both inside and outside in hot and cold conditions.
- Working in dusty areas with provided dust masks.
- Adhereing to prerequisite and food safety programs pertaining to the warehouse operator position.
This is a first shift position with a rotating schedule Monday - Friday between 7:00am and 5:00pm. The schedule is rotated between the Lead Warehouse Operator and other Warehouse Operators every 8 weeks. There is occasional overtime on weekends, holidays, and during the work week when business conditions require. This is a general job description which is not all inclusive.
