Day & Zimmermann has an immediate need for a General Superintendent in Salem, NJ.

General Duties:


  • Organize, direct, and manage all site field activities at a nuclear facility, including oversight of all craft labor and craft supervision, ensuring strict adherence to nuclear safety standards, site procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate and integrate field operations with subcontractors, outage support organizations, and site support groups to safely and efficiently execute nuclear maintenance, modification, and construction work.
  • Monitor and manage field cost and schedule performance for nuclear projects and outages; review estimates, work orders, and job plans for accuracy, constructability, and alignment with approved nuclear work scope.
  • Take ownership of field execution planning, including scope definition, equipment and tooling needs, man-loading, and work sequencing in support of outage milestones and station schedules.
  • Ensure full compliance with client-owner labor agreements, collective bargaining agreements, jurisdictional requirements, and site-specific nuclear work rules.
  • Serve as a primary daily interface with the client-owner's site representatives, providing clear communication on nuclear field activities, outage status, performance metrics, and emerging issues.
  • Conduct frequent field walk-downs in radiological, industrial, and conventional work areas to evaluate constructability, work readiness, and adherence to ALARA principles, driving improvements to enhance productivity while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
  • Promote and model a strong nuclear safety culture by reinforcing procedural compliance, human performance tools, and conservative decision-making across all field operations.
  • Support and assist the Site Manager in overall nuclear project execution and assume Site Manager responsibilities in their absence as required.



Minimum requirements include:


  • Bachelor's degree in related field of study or equal years of related work experience in a Maintenance/Modification or Construction environment.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $95,000- $171,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).

This will be a temporary assignment and company benefits will not be available. This position is eligible for The Day & Zimmermann Retirement Plan for Contract Employees. This is a 401(k) plan available to full-time, part-time and temporary employees who are classified as Contractor and Temporary employee.
