Job Summary

We are seeking skilled Data Center Technician II and Lead technicians to support the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of structured cabling and fiber infrastructure within commercial and data center environments. This role involves hands-on work with fiber and copper cabling systems, infrastructure installation, equipment rack buildouts, and cable testing in fast-paced new construction settings. Lead-level candidates will also oversee crews, coordinate project activities, manage client communication, and support project execution. Ideal candidates are safety-focused, adaptable, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow within the low voltage and data center industry.

Job Responsibilities




  • Install, pull, route, dress, label, terminate, test, and patch fiber and copper cabling systems.



  • Perform cable infrastructure rough-in and structured cabling installation.



  • Conduct ribbon and fusion splicing using fiber splicing equipment.



  • Install and configure Single Mode and Multi-Mode fiber systems and various fiber connectors including ST, LC, SC, and SC-APC.



  • Perform Fluke and OTDR testing for fiber and copper cabling systems.



  • Troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling issues and ensure quality control of all installations.



  • Install ladder racks, fiber tray systems, power trays, cable management systems, cabinets, and customer equipment.



  • Complete server rack buildouts, rack elevations, and rack-and-stack activities.



  • Receive materials, assemble hardware, and maintain organized job sites.



  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and installation documentation.



  • Follow all OSHA safety standards, PPE requirements, and job site safety procedures.



  • Communicate professionally with team members, supervisors, clients, and contractors.



  • Adapt to changing project needs and support continuous learning in a dynamic environment.



  • Work extended shifts, overtime, and weekends as required by project demands.




Job Responsibilities - Lead Level




  • Lead and manage crews on large-scale commercial and data center projects.



  • Delegate tasks and coordinate workflow to ensure project completion.



  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and project management teams regarding project progress and site activities.



  • Conduct safety meetings and enforce job site safety compliance.



  • Forecast labor needs and assist with workforce planning.



  • Order and coordinate project materials as needed.



  • Identify blueprint changes and submit change orders to project management.



  • Support training and mentorship of junior technicians.




Job Requirements




  • High School Diploma or GED required.



  • 2-5+ years of experience in data center, low voltage, or structured cabling environments.



  • 2-5+ years of fiber installation and troubleshooting experience.



  • Experience with fiber splicing required for Lead-level candidates.



  • Experience managing crews of 10+ employees preferred for Lead-level candidates.



  • Experience working in commercial or data center low voltage environments required.



  • Knowledge of fiber and copper terminations and testing procedures.



  • Experience using Fluke testers, OTDR equipment, and Fujikura splicers preferred.



  • Ability to read blueprints and follow installation specifications.



  • Active OSHA 10 certification preferred.



  • Must be flexible, dependable, and able to adapt to changing job site responsibilities.



  • Ability to work in new construction environments while wearing full PPE.



  • Ability to work at heights, including ladders and scissor lifts.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.



  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended shifts.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Typical start time is 6:00 AM.



  • Overtime and weekend work are expected based on project demands.

  • Employees should expect to work on-site daily in physically demanding environments requiring full PPE.
