Presidio, Where Teamwork and Innovation Shape the Future
At Presidio, we're at the forefront of a global technology revolution, transforming industries through cutting-edge digital solutions and next-generation AI. We empower businesses - and their internal customers - to achieve more through innovation, automation, and intelligent insights.

    The Role

As a Physical Infrastructure Consultant, you will be the "boots on the ground" technical expert responsible for the foundational layer of our clients' IT environments. Your role is deeply technical and focused on the granular requirements of structured cabling, power delivery, and thermal regulation. You will transform empty shells or disorganized server rooms into high-performance, meticulously documented data environments.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Layer 1 Design & Specification: Create detailed "bill of materials" (BOM) and schematic designs for copper and fiber optic cabling systems, including backbone and horizontal cabling, patch panels, and cable trays.
    • Low-Level Power Distribution: Determine requirements for rack-level power, including branch circuit monitoring, PDU selection (Basic vs. Intelligent), and connector types (e.g., C13, C19, NEMA).
    • Airflow & Rack Density Management: Design the physical layout of cabinets to maximize cooling efficiency. This includes managing blanking panels, brush strips, and floor tile placement to prevent bypass airflow.
    • Pathway & Support Systems: Design and oversee the installation of overhead ladder racks, under-floor trays, and conduit pathways to ensure proper bend radiuses and weight distribution.
    • Testing & Validation: Establish standards for Fluke testing (Permanent Link vs. Channel) and interpret OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) results to ensure all physical links meet performance specs.
    • Labeling & Documentation: Enforce strict DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) or spreadsheet-based documentation standards for every cable run and power port to ensure 100% traceability.

    Required Skills and Professional Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and / or military experience
    • Overall 1-3, 3+, 3-5, 7-10, 10+, 15+, years of experience in...
    • Minimum of, ex. 3+, years of experience of [SKILL or TASK]
    • Must be a US Citizen
    • Ability to obtain Government Security Clearance

    Preferred Skills and Professional Experience:

    • Cabling Precision: Expertise in Category 6A, OM4/OM5 fiber, and OS2 singlemode, including MPO/MTP high-density connectivity.
    • Physical Security & Containment: Experience designing hot/cold aisle containment systems and cage-level physical security (biometrics, cabinet locks).
    • Power Calculations: Ability to calculate de-rated circuit capacities and total kVA requirements per rack to prevent circuit overloads.
    • Space Management: Proficiency in "U" space optimization and identifying "stranded" power or cooling capacity within a footprint.
