Job Summary

The Buyer I is responsible for procuring goods and services while ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery. This role partners with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support operational and production requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing within a manufacturing environment, strong SAP knowledge, and the ability to manage technical materials and supplier relationships in a fast-paced setting.

Job Responsibilities



  • Review purchase requisitions and procurement requests to determine appropriate sourcing methods.
  • Identify qualified suppliers and obtain competitive bids, quotations, and proposals.
  • Evaluate supplier pricing, capabilities, and service levels to ensure optimal value.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Generate and maintain purchase orders and procurement documentation in compliance with company policies.
  • Monitor order status and expedite deliveries to support production and project timelines.
  • Resolve supplier issues related to pricing, quality, delivery, and order discrepancies.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and support supplier performance evaluations.
  • Procure technical materials and components, including metals and transformer-related materials.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure procurement activities align with business needs.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within procurement and supply chain operations.


Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, or related experience.
  • 1-3 years of SAP experience in a purchasing or procurement environment.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and purchasing best practices.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required.


Work Experience



  • 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, or related experience required.
  • Manufacturing industry purchasing experience preferred.
  • Experience sourcing technical materials, metals, or industrial components preferred.
  • Experience using SAP in a purchasing environment required.
  • Experience with procurement software or ERP systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with contract management principles preferred.
  • Knowledge of supply chain logistics and inventory management preferred.
  • Professional procurement or supply chain certifications, such as CSCP or CPSM, are a plus.
