| Position Summary |
Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location will be designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs.
The Administrative Support Specialist provides specialized administrative and operational support to a large, multi-site clinical department serving more than 300 physicians, advanced practice providers, and other clinical professionals. The role is responsible for coordinating professional development travel, expense reimbursement, purchasing, invoice processing, and recruitment-related logistics while ensuring compliance with
UNC Health and
UNC School of Medicine financial policies and procedures. Serving as a key resource for providers, supervisors, and administrative staff, this position interprets and applies complex business processes, supports clinical operations, and contributes to the effective functioning of the department through exceptional customer service, financial stewardship, and administrative expertise. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| Management Preferences |
- Experience processing business travel arrangements and expense reimbursements in a centralized travel and expense management system, such as the UNC Concur software program or a comparable travel and expense platform.
- Demonstrated skills using Microsoft Office suite of products, including tracking expenditures, maintaining databases, creating reports, and reconciling financial information.
- Experience interpreting and applying organizational financial, travel, purchasing, and reimbursement policies.
- Experience supporting physicians, advanced practice providers, or other healthcare professionals within an academic medical center, healthcare system, or large clinical practice.
- Current Notary Public commission or ability to obtain one shortly after starting in the position.
