Description UNC Medical Center is hiring for our Cardiology and Oncology Stepdown Unit *Please attach a cover letter describing your primary areas of clinical interest along with a resume that lists your clinical rotations (units, clinical hours, location). The Cardiology and Oncology Stepdown Unit (COSU) unit is a 13-bed intermediate care unit that provides an inclusive atmosphere for professional growth and compassionate care. Team members are challenged by the innovative treatments and the critical care patients we serve! Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration are hallmarks for this unit while providing high quality "Carolina Care" to the patients and families we serve. Our ONE GREAT TEAM facilitates admissions, treatments, transfers, and discharges of patients 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. This position is 36 hours per week with day/night and weekend rotation. It is expected that candidates will be eligible to practice as an RN in North Carolina prior to their first day of employment. In order to qualify for the UNC Medical Center New Graduate Residency program, candidates must be currently in their final semester of nursing school or who have recently graduated from nursing school within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. This a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse. *If you're a current UNC Medical Center employee, you must apply as an internal applicant. Summary: Responsibilities: 1. Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. With assistance, uses patient education materials relevant to patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers. Assesses developmental level of patient and factors affecting ability to learn.
