The Department of Nursing at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time professional-track Instructor of the Practice in Nursing position, starting as early as spring Semester 2027. The department, located in the state-of-the-art Taylor Health Sciences building (adjacent to St. George Regional Medical Center), offers nursing assistant certification as well as associate, baccalaureate, and master degrees in Nursing. Responsibilities
-
- Teach 30 credits per academic year within the Nursing program, usually assigned as 15 credit hours (5 classes) per academic semester. Teaching responsibilities include lower-division nursing courses, select upper-division nursing courses, and other nursing courses related to the successful candidate's specialty.
- Develop and teach appropriate courses in nursing, consistent with the applicant's background and expertise.
- Adhere to department, college, and university policies and performs campus-wide faculty responsibilities, including:
- Develop course materials in accordance with University expectations, including syllabi that contain course learning outcomes, assignments, and other student success measures, and a complete schedule for the course.
- Use the Canvas course management system.
- Hold office hours.
- Advise and mentor program students.
- Attend department, division, college, and University meetings and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
-
- Master's degree in Nursing required.
- Must hold a current Registered Nurse license for the state of Utah or eligibility to gain Utah licensure or by Interstate Compact.
- A commitment to, and evidence of, excellence in undergraduate teaching.
- The ability to supervise and mentor undergraduates in scholarship, especially in ways that benefit the institution and surrounding community through the application of nursing principles.
- Demonstrated ability in successful teaching, be technology literate, certified in online instruction and willing to teach one or more courses online and/or in a blended format; finalists will be required to demonstrate competence through a teaching demonstration.
- Demonstrated ability to provide proactive educational leadership; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to work collaboratively with Nursing and other UT programs.
- Commitment to academic excellence and exceptional services, with proven effectiveness in allocating and managing sources, utilizing computer-related technologies to enhance education methodology, and proficiency in curriculum design, program administration, program evaluation, instruction, student guidance, and academic counseling.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Full-time (9-month) professional-track faculty position. Faculty service with pay and benefits starting 1 January 2027. Annual salary of $55,000, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
