THE OPPORTUNITY

The Junior Network Technician assists network staff with daily operations and offers support for various projects. This position involves implementation of network infrastructure (configuration and deployment) as well as day-to-day production support and customer interfacing opportunities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Utilize port inventory data to continue Babson's campus wide wired port reduction initiative.
  • Survey WiFi signal strength using specialized equipment as directed by NEO Staff.
  • Assist NEO staff with scripting and small software projects as directed.
  • Create logical diagrams of network closets using software as directed by NEO staff.
  • Assist NEO staff with configuration, deployment, and installation of network switches.
  • Assist NEO staff with troubleshooting and problem resolution for Tier 2/3 escalations.
  • Adhere to NEO documentation standards when creating MOPs, SOPs, and other work documentation.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

  • Some classes towards a Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to think creatively and solve uncommon issues.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to embrace ideas and changes created by all community members.
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems; look for opportunities to take on responsibility; take thoughtful risks; and effectively act on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.
  • Ability to anticipate and effectively handles change; demonstrate willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.
  • Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Drive/Docs and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar).

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

This is an on-campus position expected to work approximately 35 hours per week September 8th through December 15th 2026.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

Some prior experience within IT a plus.

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $25.00. This position includes paid sick leave where required by law. Eligibility, accrual, and usage will follow applicable state and local regulations.
