Under direct supervision of the Reception Lead, assist the dentist, registered dental hygienist, and dental assistants to schedule and coordinate quality dental care to patients, and to help organize the daily operations of a dental clinic to operate in an e?cient, cost e?ective, and productive manner

  • Greet patients; face to face and, or, over the phone
  • Answer phone calls, manage messages, and distribute triage messages appropriately to dental assistants, and/or providers
  • Register new and current patients in compliance with o?ce protocol
  • Help patients fill out all necessary paperwork and documentation to be seen at dental clinic
  • Update patient information, dental insurance, and income verification for sliding fee
  • Inform patients of policies about dental procedures, financial agreement, tardiness, cancellation of less than 24 hours, and no shows
  • Manage patient records in a secured and confidential manner in compliance with HIPPA
  • Schedule dental appointments in respect to established schedule templates for providers
  • Confirm upcoming appointments, and fill in cancellations and no shows
  • Coordinate referrals to ensure patients receive recommended care with specialists
  • Coordinate lab cases to dental lab(s) in an appropriate time and manner
  • Collect and arrange patient payments
  • Assist business manager and dental director to capture annual visits and payments/ reimbursements in a timely fashion
  • Coordinate providers' schedules to maximize quality care for patients to finish needed dental treatment in a timely manner
  • Treat patients with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain strict department security, confidentiality, and quality to meet professional standards of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS: (R)equired vs. (P)referred
  1. High School DIploma aor equivalent R
  2. Minimum of 2 years of front desk dental office experience R
  3. Knowledge of dental insurance/benefit verification and billing processes R
  4. Knowledge of dental terminologies and dental procedures R
  5. Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures. R
  6. Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques. R
  7. Knowledge of Federal, State, and institutional regulations and guidelines for the provision of dental outpatient services. P
  8. Skill in operating business computers and o?ce machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint) and electronic dental records software such as Dentrix. R
  9. Ability to work as a team member within a clinical environment and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels. R
  10. Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoots a wide range of dental software and equipment in accordance with prescribed procedures and standards. P
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Employee Health Labs (MMR, Varcilla, Hep B, and TB skin test (or QuantiFERON)
  • Annual and individual trainings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport and maintain positive relationships with a variety of patients, visitors, staff and providers.
  • Ability to understand and react with cultural sensitivity to client needs.
  • Bilingual preferred.
