Position Overview
| Essential Job Duties |
The Hoppin Lab is looking to hire a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to support critical epidemiologic research under the
GenX Study: Metabolic Effects of PFAS project.
The focus of this role is to conduct advanced epidemiologic and statistical analyses on data collected through the GenX Exposure Study. Timely execution of this work is vital to characterizing exposure and health outcomes so that findings can be translated quickly and effectively to affected community members. Beyond contributing high-impact scientific findings to environmental epidemiology and biostatistics, this role serves a crucial public health function by delivering accessible research summaries directly to local communities. Establishing this position at this time ensures the research team maintains momentum, fulfills grant deliverables, and provides timely, community- engaged research disclosures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct statistical analysis and prepare manuscripts for publication.
- Assist in preparing lay summaries for community members. Topics will focus on PFAS exposure, developing statistical approaches to analyze mixtures, and the longitudinal effects of PFAS exposure on metabolic outcomes (lipids, weight, thyroid). Projects can include analysis of metabolomic data.
- Involved in exposure reconstruction for historic PFAS exposures, reconstruct historic PFAS exposure scenarios based on historic drinking water levels, participant address history, and toxicokinetics of PFAS for use in health effects analysis.
- Must possess expertise in environmental exposure assessment, epidemiological data analysis, and advanced modeling for chemical mixtures.
- Supervise graduate students in statistical analyses of data.
