Summary of Position
The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Biomedical Sciences ( MCBS), College of Life Sciences and Agriculture ( COLSA) at the University of New Hampshire ( UNH) invites applications for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track Associate/Full Professor of Biomedical Sciences. The faculty member hired will also serve as Director of the NIH-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence ( COBRE): Center of Integrated Biomedical and Bioengineering Research (CIBBR).
We seek an engaged faculty member who is an established biomedical scientist with a nationally recognized, externally funded research program employing molecular and cellular approaches to advance the field of protein biochemistry, structural biology, developmental biology, cancer biology, molecular or cell biology, genomics, microbiology, or other related fields in the biomedical sciences. The successful candidate must have a desire to substantially grow their established research program, as well as prior administrative experience to lead CIBBR in meeting its goals. A demonstrated commitment to mentoring early-stage investigators, building research infrastructure, enhancement of diversity and inclusion, as well as teaching and service is also required.
For the successful candidate, the above activities will be supported by several UNH centers of excellence, including CIBBR's Research Cores; the Hubbard Center for Genome Studies; the University Instrumentation Center (housing state-of-the-art imaging and spectrometry instrumentation); the Research Computing Center; and the New Hampshire Agricultural Experiment Station. Graduate student training opportunities are provided through affiliation with MCBS-administered graduate programs in Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology and/or Molecular & Evolutionary Systems Biology.
Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of this position are: 1) maintain and grow a high-impact, externally funded biomedical research program; 2) serve as Principal Investigator, Director, and Administrative Core Lead of CIBBR (currently in early Phase II); 3) provide high quality instruction in relevant courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and 4) contribute meaningfully to service at the Department, College, and University levels.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: 1) a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, genetics, or related field; 2) current rank at the Associate or Full Professor level; 3) active major research project grant(s) from NIH (e.g., R01, R35) or from equivalent US federal granting agencies as well as a history of effective research collaborations; 4) prior experience with academic and/or research administration; and 5) demonstrated commitments to undergraduate and graduate education.
