JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Office of Enrollment and Financial Aid at Penn State Hazleton is seeking a part-time Admissions Assistant to support undergraduate enrollment. Penn State Hazleton has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich our academic and culturally inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide program information to prospective students via email, phone, and in-person inquiries
  • Processing of transcripts or other supporting documentation
  • Communication with applicants to ensure that they complete the application process in a timely fashion and register for courses
  • Assisting in the admissions decision-making process as student applications are evaluated and accepted or denied
  • Assisting in the coordination of on-campus recruitment events (e.g., Penn Stater for a Day, Open Houses)
  • Present at recruitment events
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned to help support the Office of Enrollment and Financial Aid

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or two years work experience in a higher education setting or customer service role
  • Demonstrated skill in effective professional communication
  • Demonstrated customer-service experience
  • Skill in working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to perform work with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage a large volume of emails

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Bilingual in Spanish

All applicants must have the capability to attend off-campus recruitment events (e.g., graduate fairs, and professional conferences).

The Office of Enrollment and Financial Aid serves students Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. A flexible schedule within our working hours is available at the discretion of the Director. The total expected hours of work per week is 20 - 24. This is an ongoing position, and we are seeking an individual who will become a long-term team member.

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:
* PA State Police Criminal Background Check
* PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
* FBI Criminal Background Check
