The Aerospace Corporation is hiringa Graduate-level Electrical Engineering Intern for the Communications and Signal Analysis Department (CSAD) within the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED). This position will be located in Chantilly, VA

Job Summary

The Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED) represents the disciplines of communications, networking, and PNT (Position, Navigation, and Timing) in support of space missions, along with their enabling technologies. In our domain, CTED projects comprise all aspects, from architectures to prototypes to implementation, theoretical to hands-on. Our engineers work directly with corporate and U.S. Government customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.

Main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies, are the domain of the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division. The division comprises all aspects, from architectures to implementation; our engineers work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.

Graduate level Intern will join the CSAD team that is responsible for performing analysis, modeling and simulation of end-to-end radio and optical communication systems, and signal collection/processing techniques and solutions. We also advise our customers on technical matters and advanced technology development needs. The work we do is in support of advanced concept development/prototyping, system acquisition support and anomaly resolution, primarily for specialized satellite and associated ground processing applications.

Work Model:

This position will be located 100% onsite in Chantilly Virginia

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing subject matter expertise in radio and/or optical communication systems and related signal processing

  • Working on technical problems in the areas of communications, signals collection and remote sensing

  • Supporting customer communications, signal collection and/or emitter geolocation mission areas.

  • Supporting our Civil, DoD and intelligence community customers with primary support to the National Reconnaissance Office

  • Joining the Communications and Signal Analysis Department as an intern who will work both independently and as part of project teams.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree completed AND currently enrolled fulltime in an accredited college/university program pursuing aMaster's or Ph.D.degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related program.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program after completion of the internship.

  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Transcripts required.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • GPAof3.5 or higher

  • Active security clearance

  • Completed coursework in radio or optical communications, satellite communications or signal processing.
