Cornell University's Statler Hotel has launched a search for a Regent Lounge Bartender to join our Food & Beverage Team. The Statler Hotel's Regent Lounge provides a contemporary bar atmosphere serving hotel guests, Cornell faculty, staff, students, and locals who gather to enjoy fine wines, specialty cocktails, craft beers, and light fare.

This role pays $13.96/hour plus tips. For shifts that are not tips eligible (i.e. vacation, sick, holiday, etc.) the hourly rate is the current union rate for an S0-04.

Your role as a Bartender:

The Statler Hotel's Regent Lounge provides a contemporarybaratmosphere serving hotel guests, Cornell faculty, staff,students, and locals who gather to enjoyfine wines, specialty cocktails, craft beers,andlight fare.

As a member of the Statler Hotel's Food & Beverage Team, your primary responsibility is to provide superior service to our guests whilepreparingand servingalcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

  • The bartender must holda high level of competency regarding beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails, following standardized recipes.
  • Additionally, our bartenders serve as educators and mentors to our student staff. Bartenders work closely with students to cultivate hospitality and leadership skills.
  • Other job duties includeprovidingbeverage and dinnerservice to guests seated at the bar, maintaining and requisitioning stock, settingup and/or breakingdown of bar, maintainingproper cleanliness of bar area,and other side duties.
  • Bartendersalsohave cashieringresponsibilities, which includerecording of the sale of goods, collection of payment, secure handling of cash banks and following Statler Hotel Cash Handling Policy and Procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcohol.
  • Must be knowledgeable, competently skilled and experienced in the preparation and service of alcoholic beverages.
  • Ability to learn Point of Sale systems and functions.
  • Able to work standing for extended periods of time.
  • Able to walk quickly up and down one flight of stairs while carrying multiple plates of food several times during shift.
  • Able to lift and carry weights up to 40 lbs. May be asked to move up to 160 lbs (kegs) using hand truck.
  • Able to work flexible hours with variable start/end times, evenings, holidays, weekends, special events, a work schedule that may be subject to change on short notice.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in high volume cocktail bar environment.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Safety certification in food handling; is knowledgeable of food allergens.
