Position description

The Environmental Markets Lab (emLab) is seeking up to 3 postdoctoral researchers to lead in the development and execution of research projects in environmental and resource economics. The successful candidate will contribute to one or more of emLab's focus areas in climate and energy, land and freshwater, ocean and fisheries, and people and poverty. This year our key research priorities are: natural resource management, nature-based climate solutions, and randomized controlled trials.

The Environmental Markets Lab is a team of scientists based at UC Santa Barbara's Bren School of Environmental Science & Management and Economics Department that conducts cutting-edge, data-driven research on the power, limitations, and design of market-based approaches to tackle pressing environmental problems. In collaboration with implementing partners, emLab aims to better align environmental objectives and economic incentives in support of sustainable livelihoods and a resilient planet. We endeavor to foster an inclusive, collaborative work environment to bring interdisciplinary expertise to solve critical environmental problems.

The ideal candidate(s) should have training in economic theory, econometrics, and/or other quantitative research tools and an interest and track record in publishing in top science and/or economics journals. They will have the opportunity to work with the emLab principal investigators and will report directly to the principal investigator who most closely aligns with their area of interest. The successful candidate(s) will have flexibility to contribute to emLab projects, and can also allocate a fraction of their time to their own research.

Salary and Benefits: Postdoctoral Researcher position, with salary commensurate with qualifications.

The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service.
