Research Program Coordinator

We are seeking a Research Program Coordinatorwho will be responsible for overseeing data collection and coordination of all aspects of our Medical Critical Care Trials group at Johns Hopkins Hospital. This person will be a leader and point of contact for medical critical care research studies, including trials of interventions to treat COVID - 19 pneumonia that are currently running or will begin in the near future. As COVID abates, COVID trials will be replaced by non-COVID studies. Most trials (COVID or non-COVID) will be related to patients with sepsis or acute lung injury.

General qualifications include strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to easily adapt to change, work independently, and work constructively in a team environment. This person will work as a member of our multiple multidisciplinary study teams and with all levels of research personnel including investigators, research nurses, other study coordinators, and students.

Specific duties and responsibilities

  • Provide high quality management and coordination of critical care trials.
  • Partake in and oversee the enrollment and registration of critically ill patients into the trials.
  • Assist in the development and clarity of study protocols, standard operating procedures, manuals of operation, data collection instruments, training materials and guidelines, and other materials. Assist in the translation of related documents as necessary.
  • Prepare data reports for ethical review committees, funding agencies, and other research sponsors.
  • Communicate effectively with administrative staff, institutional leadership, and study sponsors at JHU
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies used in research studies.
  • The position will be based in Baltimore, but will require travel between Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center as we will recruit participants from each site.
  • Assist in compiling data for study progress reports and grant proposals using Stata, RedCap, and other.
  • Assist research team in developing and maintaining database of research studies using REDCap, Excel, and/or other cloud-based platforms.
  • Willingness to learn additional skills and knowledge quickly related to the research studies in order to best manage studies as assigned by management.
  • Organize and lead regular calls regarding progress in data collection activities, data management, patient safety, and other site-specific issues with members of the research team.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and IRB regulations and guidelines and ensure staff compliance.
  • Perform SAP transactions including order of supplies (Shopping Cart), Travel Assistant, and On-Line Payment as requested.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as requested.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision, but asks for clarification when needed regarding data quality and integrity issues.
  • Able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.
  • Attention to detail and ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Maintain high level of motivation for job functions with a positive attitude.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with multiple and diverse stakeholders in this the research setting.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
  • The candidate must also have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and personal computer skills.
  • All IRB-required courses, appropriate study related certifications/training and SAP training must be completed within 2 weeks of start date.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in project coordination.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($35,776 yargeted; Commensurate with experience)
