The Kern Community College District in California's southern San Joaquin Valley encompasses Bakersfield College, Cerro Coso Community College, and Porterville College. KCCD serves 39,000 students on its three publically funded community college campuses as well as in college centers located in downtown Bakersfield, Delano, Bishop, Mammoth, and California City. Kern Community College District embraces the student success initiatives proffered by the State of California, Achieving the Dream, and other organizations. Each of our colleges has adopted some of the high impact practices known to deepen students' engagement in the college experience. These practices include learning communities, first-year seminars and experiences for new college students, and academic goal setting and planning tools that direct students on a path to educational completion.
